Vitamin D overdose or hypervitaminos is D can be seriously damaging but is treatable. This medical condition occurs due to excessive Vitamin D in the body brought about by extreme amounts if supplementary intake. It cannot occur from over exposure to the sun or eating copious amounts of Vitamin D rich foods. High doses of Vitamin D might be prescribed by the doctor for a short period, but that is regulated carefully to ensure that it causes no damage.

Symptoms of Vitamin D overdose may include vomiting, constipation, weight loss, frequent urination, general weakness, kidney stones and irregular heart rhythm. People with health issues such as liver or kidney problems have a greater risk of Vitamin D toxicity. To ensure that the Vitamin D levels in the body are balanced, a person needs to be careful about any supplementary intakes. It is advised that these should only be taken according to a doctor’s advice and should not exceed the prescribed amount.
